We first welcomed Tamara Handbags to the Fly back in January, and we're very excited to have Tamara herself in store for a trunk show! Created by Tamara Freedman Lord, the Boston area based Tamara Handbags takes style savvy and functionality to a whole new level. Appealing to the fashionable woman on-the go, Tamara’s fabulous handbags are updated twists of the essential basics, and her innovative and fresh styles are what make them standouts among the rest.

This week at the Fly, L is for Lia Molly, Loveappella, newcomer Libertalia, and Looking forward to Spring!

Just as seeing the first buds on the trees brings a smile to our faces, so does the arrival of seasonal transition styles, and we can’t wait for you to see the latest! While pops of color are starting to spring up (pun intended), our most recent shipments featured a lot of black and tan. Don’t worry, you’ll be hearing and seeing more from me over the next few weeks/months about fantastic colors for Spring & Summer – but right now, all this black & tan really has us amped up for a St. Patty’s Day Guinness! So, let’s raise a glass to some awesome new styles…

Our favorite New Orleans export, Lia Molly, shares only a couple of collections each year, so we always get giddy when we receive their latest styles. Yesterday’s arrivals certainly do not disappoint! Fun prints and quirky details make these knits irresistible. Next up, Fly fave Loveappella. These three new styles perfectly demonstrate why the line is idyllic for our Fly girls… Comfortable fit plus feminine accents make for great day to night pieces, all for under $70. Who doesn’t love looking put together yet feeling like you’re in lougewear?! I’m totally digging the striped wrap with lace pockets & back (the first of three looks featuring major back detail), and the black tee with satin trim is sheer perfection (literally)!

Lastly, we’re excited to introduce you ladies to Libertalia! The California-based line believes in “the strong and independent girl,” and the pieces we’ve chosen for the label’s Fly debut make this creed clear (at prices under $40, they're easy to love). Yes, there is a lot of black – but they’ve all got some edge-y details that any confident young woman could wear well and utilize for a polished day-to-night look. Irish Eyes Are Smiling

Last night we kicked off March with a nod to the Irish! With Spring on the horizon and St. Patty's day only a few weeks away, we welcomed all things green and bright.

In addition to a TON of new SPRING VINTAGE, we kicked off our new EARRING OF THE MONTH CLUB with some fab green & gold dazzlers (pictured below). This new Fly club will allow members to receive unique and exclusive earrings each month! SuperFLY Superbowl Sunday

Happy SuperFLY Superbowl Sunday, folks!

We want to kick-off the day with a big Thank You to all the FLY ladies who stopped by for Friday's Valentine's Pre-Game Event. Our hearts were filled with joy to see so many friends of the Fly enjoying the latest fashions while sipping on champagne (courtesy of our friends at The Wine Bottega) and nibbling on festive sweets. And many of those faces were given the glam treatment from our awesome neighbor, Kelly, from Salon 26 - Thanks, girlfriend, everyone looked great!

The Girls are Back in Town!

January seems to be Ladies Month around here… and we’re really celebrating! Lorrinda and I both had our birthdays last week, giving each of us a chance for girls’ nights out on which to don some statement pieces and cut-loose. Shout-outs, too, to our fellow January-born Fly girls, including Erin T. & Kat W. – we know you’ll rock out for your big days, as well, if you haven’t already! Following suit, we’re thrilled to have some other great ladies in-store to make everyone rejoice!

The latest from Fly fave Angie consists of two fabulous knit dresses. Both are great for dressing up or down and can definitely serve as seasonal transition pieces. In addition, we’ve now got some great belts by this “boho with an edge” label, including a black lace corset style as well as a studded style. Each embodies the mix of soft and hard we’ve come to love from Angie - leather and lace, baby!

Recent addition and new obsession amongst many Fly Girls, LouLou Bijoux, is back in full force! Tons of necklaces and bracelets just arrived, and we couldn’t be happier to share them with you. Meet the Newest Fly Girl!

Happy 2011 to all! We're really looking forward to another fabulous year, and we're pleased to kick off the new year with a new addition to our team! For those of you who may have been viewing our product photos on Facebook and wondered 'Who's that girl rockin' the velvet jumper with sparkly tights?' - meet Erin! With her love of both fashion and Italian culture, Erin seems like a great fit for our boutique in the heart of Little Italy. So, without further ado, here she is, in her own words:

Ciao!

Hello, hello, everyone! My name is Erin and I am SO EXCITED to introduce myself as the newest member of The Velvet Fly team! I wanted to officially say hello and “scribble” a few lines about myself for all who are curious and interested!

I graduated from Boston University this past May with a degree in communications/public relations and a concentration in Italian. I then spent the summer abroad in Italy pursuing one of my biggest passions: the Italian language/culture (hence my use of Ciao… I’m seriously obsessed with all things Italian). Upon my return to the states, I moved back to my favorite U.S. city- Boston - and picked up a plethora of jobs. The majority of my jobs are retail-related, because I’m also clothing obsessed; thus the need for SEVERAL of them. I nearly cried the first time I walked into The Velvet Fly and saw that they carried Lia Molly :)

Anyways, enough about me! I’d really just love to meet all of you, as we share a common love: The Velvet Fly! I’ll be at the store mostly on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so, please stop by to say hello and check out our ever-changing and always fabulous merchandise!
